Tanya Kan is known for direction, gamedev, management, and marketing the narrative choice hacktivism game Solace State (2023, Steam and Xbox). It was Gamespot’s “favourite cyberpunk game of the year” at launch!

Through her professional acumen, she has received 13 grants, 2 awards, 90 press coverage, presented 39 talks, and exhibited at 55 expos and events.

Management Experience

As Vivid Foundry’s Director and Executive Producer, I had the privilege of managing 23 diverse developers, with the majority from underrepresented backgrounds. Project Management

With 8 years producing at Vivid Foundry and a prior PM experience with Remington, I’ve used Jira, Confluence, Trello, Clickup and spreadsheets. I keep my team keyed to their strengths in meeting deliverables with sprints that synergize with the project needs and team communication style.

Pitch Decks and Admin Support

With 13 successfully funded grants and 2 fund prizes, writing reports and applications is naturally enjoyable to me. Professional writing, pitch decks, charts, schedules, budgets, and disseminating market and business research? That’s speaking my language!

Business Development

I enjoy building regular rapport with the industry including studio leads, funders, platforms, and publishers, and received years of bizdev grants to sustain international networks. While emails and updates are part of the engagement, I also schedule meetings to share knowledge!

I have 13 years of dev experience from ideation to launch in Unity and Unreal, and lived and breathed through production and postpro bottlenecks.

I am often invited to speak about development – including art pipelines and narrative design – at events!

I taught Game Design with 3DS Max at OCAD University, mentored Game Design and Marketing at TMU, and most recently spoke about Game Writing and Production at Sheridan College.

Development Skills

Since 2012, I have worked in professional roles in-engine and in development. I am dynamic at balancing dependencies between technical developers, artists, testers, and marketers; working on my own deliverables; and ensuring that all team members’ work can shine.

Marketing Foundations

A good game has to reach its people. I am here to help build trust and excitement with your audience.
As a jack-of-all-trades, I can execute your marketing and engage with businesses and trade events that are crucial to your game’s success.

Social media content creation

Whether longform or shortform, I enjoy experimenting with content creation using Photoshop, AfterEffects, Premiere, and copywriting!

Community management

Drawing on equity-striving mandates and CoC to foster an inclusive and supportive company culture, I have experience with community building and moderation.

Market research and marketing strategy

I do market research and coordinate with marketing specialists. My branding and strategy carefully considers budget and changing social media landscape. I’ve also attended a market research bootcamp.

Engagement with Journalists

For Solace State, I have built up a presskit and press list for narrative games, and many journos have written about the game or interviewed me both prior to and after release.

Event preparation & presentation

Solace State’s visibility grew due to 48 exhibitions and 31 talks due to my tailored event applications. I’ve managed all of my company’s event logistics including technical prep like livestream setup and workshop preparation.

Storefront life cycle

I have ample experience since 2018 with updating marketing copy, art assets, localization, devlogs, sales, demos, and patch uploads to keep store pages fresh (Steam, Xbox).

I worked closely with Gary Kings, Trailer Editor, and Vanille Velasquez, Voice Actor, for a Solace State trailer that focuses on the narrative conflict. I managed VA auditions. I also coordinated with ID@Xbox for a marketing push on IGN channels.
